“If you have a brain, you are biased.” Diversity leads to better results. So then why do we still recruit copycats? Organizations have tried to eliminate bias (prejudice) as much as possible in their decision making. But despite many efforts, bias stubbornly persists. With all its consequences for the decisions in terms of people and organizations. Research has identified some 150 ways by which decisions are affected: proximity, experience, stereotyping, safety,… Increaing awareness is not enough. Neuroscience helps us first of all understand why bias is so persistent and what we can do about it. We look at a new approach to reduce bias and thus objectify and optimize our decisions about people and organizations.
